Side Tour

Proceed past the i.Gingerbread House (22 Metcalfe St.) which was built by James Geddes in 1852 and head west on Carleton to Victoria Street This intersection was the business and industrial hub in the 1840s and 50s. The large stone building closest to the bridge was know as ii. Henderson's Block, built by James Henderson of Ross and Company. On the north-west corner is the building that housed iii. Mitchell's Harness Shop (53 Victoria St) and next door iv. Walker's Carriage Shop. Proceed north on Victoria Street to v. Bleak House, early residence of Dr. Finlayson located on the north-west corner of Water and Victoria Streets. (61 Victoria St) Further up hill where Victoria intersects with Metcalfe is the building which was the original vi. Wesleyan Methodist Church at 70 Metcalfe Street (see sign).

To return to the Centre for the Arts, take Metcalfe Street back across the bridge and proceed up the hill to tour stop # 3, then turn right on Church Street
